On Monday June 14 at Pocono Downs, 13 "Hambo"-eligibles (HE) trotted in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes (PASS) worth more than $85,000 each. Divided into three fields, the colt picture for this year’s glamour boys tightened even more than from the weekend’s results.
In the first division, four out of eight HE went to post. The winner was Hambo-hopeful Mystery Photo, as the 7-5 second choice.

"Mystery" was working for the lead around the first turn as pressured by Kirty Dream, that sharp PASS performer from the Dubois camp that is not an eligible. Going first over to challenge the trot-setting Mystery, "Kirty" ended up second. In third was Beer League, also HE. "Beer" was second over from the first quarter to the stretch, where he went three wide with little bid behind Kirty in a bold effort.

In the second division, five of nine eligibles were included in the field. Our horse to watch, Pilgrims Chuckie, went off at 7-2 and trotted the mile in a track and age record of 1:53.
The Scott Andrews-trained colt defeated the ultra-hot Cassis, undefeated until this race. Cassis was challenged at the half by "Chuckie" and could not rally to catch him. Facing a tough trip was Hard Livin; he was hung at the half and three-quarters and faded.

In the third division, four of nine in the field took off but the winner was Red Light, a non-eligible.

In second was On The Tab, an on-and-off-again jumper who handled the 9 hole with ease here at 36-1. "Tab" sat in the pocket and slipped up the passing land, almost catching Red Light. In third was prohibitive-favorite Pilgrims Taj, who took back and had to go first over early to mount a charge that only got him third. The speedy sophomore broke in the post parade but it did not affect his odds.
