2012 Meadowlands Pace

Selections:  7-3-4-5

7-Thinking Out Loud– North America Cup winner unleashed an impressive Big M debut rally fresh off the bench, paced home in :26 despite locking wheels in the stretch with Pet Rock & that cost him the win, should get an ample speed target

3-Heston Blue Chip – King of the NYSS shipped in fresh & confident, made it five-for-five this season with a perfect trip & career best 1:49 (:26.2 out & :26.3 home), obviously figures to be firing again & could be forced to set the pace

4-Sweet Lou – hats off to Dave Palone for keeping A Rocknroll Dance pinned in, gamely held off pressure in :26.4 to win his elimination after missing three weeks & undergoing changes, Palone admitted the colt wasn’t at his best, now the inside post allows him to display his speed & class

1-A Rocknroll Dance– the Hempt upsetter with a pace on both ends from post 8 got locked in until too late, Gingras said he wasn’t quite as good as he was at Pocono, the rail forces him to protect position, lone millionaire in the field is logically a dangerous stalker

5-Bolt The Duer – blocked right to the wire in his elimination, barely gunned down in the Hempt after winning his elimination in 1:48.3, likely leaving along with Heston Blue Chip, looks for a close-up seat again or could try to steal it

2-Pet Rock – the Art Rooney winner hooked wheels with Thinking Out Loud & still paced home in :26.2, pretty consistent colt, inside draw facilitates the trip he needs & count on Sears to give him a big chance

10-Allstar Legend – Jim Morrill, Jr. pulled the biggest upset in Pace history (Holborn Hanover, $119), may take a shot & push off the wings with this big-gaited colt, owns a 1:48.2 track record at Harrah’s Philadelphia

9-Time To Roll – beaten favorite in his elimination was speed tightened, still green with the fewest starts in the field (8), can’t discount his second in the NA Cup, but how far back will he have to come from?

6-Simply Business – added Lasix & kicked home off second over cover in :26.3, Jimmy Takter said he was going to make some changes, Ron Pierce felt he was better than ever, Pierce has won three of the last four Pace Finals

8-State Treasurer - $6,500 bargain colt gets points for grinding it out first over after shipping here & missing three weeks, has proven he can close with the best of them
